Mindepartamentet inauguration, September 10th

sound-collage performed inside the computer room at mindepartment which will be closed to the public.

The audience can only see/hear through the window and door when we decide to open it (at some moments). Me and my son are inside the closed space. Women of color, immigrant women, are allowed in. We repeat “Hemma är där hjärtat bor /Home is where the heart is/ El hogar está donde se encuentra el corazón” in the language you feel more comfortable.

This is our place.

This time the sound-collage is performed inside my own home and streamed live, adapting to the new-old normal of social distances and borders between us. Where is our home when the world is going through a crisis? Where could we be protected and sheltered, like anyone else? Where is the place where our lives are valuable and our deaths are mourned? Where is our home when the world has been cut into pieces by class, gender, race, nationality and legal status?

Using a sampler, I put together different sounds, music, and voices from interviews (in different languages) and field recordings.

Jag är rädd för att folk inte är lika mycket värda

Jag är rädd för att krisen gör oss mindre och mindre värda, och andra mer och mer

Under krisen är vi förbrukningsbara

under krisen håller du käften eller så dödar jag dig, din jävla indian

under krisen samarbetar du bara lilla gumman, du kommer att tycka att det är skönt

under krisen är du för gammal farfar, det är bara så det är..”
